Hematocrit is the percentage of your blood volume made up of red blood cells — the oxygen-carrying fraction of blood.

It reflects how many red cells you have relative to plasma (the liquid part of blood). It often moves together with hemoglobin and helps describe oxygen-carrying capacity.
